5/20/15-Wednesday meet at garden
Wednesday we'll meet at the garden 1st period and 6th period, many of the seeds have begun the germinate and need your attention.
Seniors be sure to return your books before you leave. If you had problems with the seam of your book as some brought up earlier in the year please let me know so I can submit a recall request.

5/5/15-End of year project
APES end of year project
Design a sustainable house for as little money as possible
located in Turlock
1)
Design your house, make a prototype. Show exact measurements, no more than 1500 sq.
feet.
2)
Show side and aerial view, or a model (extra
credit)
3)
Must have full or partial energy efficiency/sustainability (wind, solar,
passive) etc.
4)
Cannot use irrigation, but, needs landscaping.
5)
Must show exactly how you got the supplies from
any number of local, state, or national incentive/rebate programs (the actual steps it takes to get the products reduced, or free)
6)
Think of materials you could use that could be
essentially free, used tires etc.
7)
Complete report with resources used, budget, and
citations.
8)
Start by
looking up the HERO program.
9)
Ideas include turf, native drought resistant
landscaping, rain water collection, shade trees, whole house fans, etc…
10)

Practice test 1-2 and diagnostic tests are due start of class Wednesday. There are three scantrons I get and you keep the hard copy with the correct answers. I will check on Friday that you have the tests and it will be considered a grade.

Preparing Students
for AP Exams
What students should bring to the exam:
- Student
ID card or picture identification.
- Check
payable to PHS for $91.00 per exam ($5.00 if fee waiver granted).
- A
watch (in case the exam room does not have a clock that can be easily
seen).
- Optional: Their social security number for
identification purposes. If
provided, it will appear on their AP Grade Reports.
- If
taking AP Biology, AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, or AP Statistics,
a calculator with the necessary capabilities. Students may bring up to two calculators
to an exam.
- If
taking AP Physics, a ruler or straightedge.
- Food/water
is only permitted during break time outside of exam room.
What students should NOT
bring to the exam:
- Books,
compasses, mechanical pencils, correction fluid, dictionaries,
highlighters, notes, or colored pencils.
- Rulers
and straightedges (except for Physics).
- Scratch
paper (notes can be made on portions of the exam booklets).
- Computers
or calculators (except for Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, or Statistics).
- Watches
that beep or have an alarm.
- Portable
listening or recording devices—even with headphones—or photographic
equipment.
- Cellular
phones, beepers, or personal digital assistants (PDAs). Cell phones will be collected at the door.

We might be taking our talents to Medeiros elementary after testing.

Excellent job yesterday, I heard really good feedback from the teachers and administration! I was very impressed with the presentations I watched and the positive impact you had on the students. They will remember the experience and hopefully practice some water saving at school and at home.

4/16 presenation information
Tomorrow we'll meet at the sand volleyball courts which are located just North of the tennis courts at 8 (start of 1st period). We are expected to be at Walnut at 8:45, so this will give you a little time to warm up and practice.
Presentations will be finished at 10:30, then we'll meet back at the volley ball courts for pizza and fun. You cannot leave the school area or the field trip plan based on school policy.

The quiz has been postponed until after the break. We will cover each of the main categories of life to understand the main reasons for declines, then take the test.
Tomorrow we will be grading APES practice test 1, then starting part 2.
We will also discuss and put together our presentation ideas, this will be a consistent as a class, with versions based on your styles and grade levels.
